We welcome all ages and experience levels. For those who are already pipers or drummers we can have you kitted out by the time you learn our parade set. If you are new to the joys of a highland band we start you off with a free practice chanter or drum pad and sticks. Beginners will be given one on one instruction by a piper designated by the Pipe major or a drummer designated by the Drum Sergeant. Intermediate players will have group sessions and play some of the tunes with the active band.

It is important to note that measured levels of musical and marching competence must be achieved before a musician is privileged to play and parade with the band. While each student will progress at different rates, it is reasonable for beginners to expect to play and parade with the band as follows:

Drummers: 4 to 6 months selected events, 6 to 12 months all events

Pipers: 6 to 8 months selected events, 8 to 14 months all events
